Mission at Terrace View

Mission is at the heart of what we do and who we are at Terrace View.  Jesus tells us that when we serve others we are serving Him. We do not need to look far to find people in need.  In our little corner of Mountlake Terrace, we are committed to serving our Lord by serving our local community with our pledges and giving to the special offerings of the PCUSA.

There are many on the margins of society who struggle in many ways.  Some struggles are a result of poverty like hunger and homelessness.  Some people find themselves caught in a web of domestic violence.  The elderly and disabled in our community may also find themselves in need.  In searching the needs in our community, we discovered ministries that serve the families of the incarcerated and ministries bringing the light of hope to those affected by immigration, incarceration, and addiction.  We also felt the need to support welcoming LGBT persons into worshiping communities, campus ministries, and church camp.

With these needs of our community in mind, in the past year our church has supported these local organizations and ministries.

  • Concern for Neighbors Food Bank

  • Clothes for Kids

  • Mary’s Place

  • Interfaith Association of NW Washington’s Family Shelter

In addition to the missions our church supports with our pledges, we also hold five special offerings each year for the worldwide missions of the Presbyterian Church USA.  The first is the Souper Bowl Offering, which supports local food banks.  During Lent we give to the One Great Hour of Sharing which supports the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Self Development of People grants, and the Presbyterian Disaster Relief program.  The next offering is the Pentecost Offering, which supports children and youth ministries.  In the fall, we give to the Peace and Global Witness Offering, which supports peacemaking efforts locally and globally.  Finally, at Christmas we have the Christmas Joy Offering, which gives grants to support retired clergy and church workers in times of need.
